A Menifee man was arrested and booked for mail theft on Friday after police officers found him in possession of a UPS package taken from a local residence, authorities said.
Edward Mora, 44, was walking on Silverwood Lane near Quail Bluff near Ridgemoor Elementary School about 10:30 a.m. Friday when he was contacted by members of the Menifee Police Special Enforcement Team. Officers noticed he was holding an unopened brown UPS parcel box addressed to another person living in the 25000 block of Silverwood Lane.
It was determined that Mora had stolen the parcel from the victim's front porch, according to a news release. The box, containing a holiday package for the family, was returned to the victim.
