Heritage High Athletes of the Week: Dec. 11

Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Heritage High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Heritage High School:

Center midfielder Miguel Huerta of the boys soccer team was selected by his coach, Timothy Poseley. "He is a stellar midfielder who runs box to box all game long," Poseley said. "He is one of my captains and a natural born leader on and off the field. He has incredible ball control and vision of the play. He is a game changer and makes a huge impact in the game. He never quits and continues from the beginning of the game to the end."

The girls soccer team is represented by senior Osmara Nunez. She scored three goals in the team's first give games and helped lead the Patriots to a third-place finish in the Norte Vista Tournament.

Dominic Verza of the boys wrestling team took first place at the Sierra Vista Tournament. Anastacia Moreno of the girls wrestling team took eighth place in the Carter Tournament.
