A memorial service is being planned for Monday for Paul Snyder, the Menifee man whose body was found on a local street Tuesday morning, nearly two weeks after he went missing.
Angie Bailey, a close friend of the family, notified Menifee 24/7 via Facebook today that details on Monday's service will be announced soon. On behalf of the family, she confirmed that the deceased man found Tuesday was Snyder.
"Our hearts are filled with grief and love as we confirm that the man discovered on La Piedra Road in Menifee is that of our beloved Paul Snyder," Bailey wrote. "Services will be scheduled for Monday, Nov. 14 with more details to follow in the coming days.
"The family would like to welcome all who wish to attend the service as well as extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who came together to search, pray and offer their support for Brooke and their girls. Paul Snyder is now with the Lord and we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and left this world knowing he was loved by so many."
Snyder, 46, is believed to have ridden a black and silver GT mountain bike to the CVS pharmacy at Bradley Road and Newport Road sometime on Oct. 27. He had not been seen since. According to Todd Huth, his brother-in-law, Snyder had triple bypass surgery a year ago and was suffering from depression and anxiety. He was on several medications but did not have them with him when he was last seen.
A search party was organized Saturday afternoon and many volunteers searched locations around town. It is not known whether the area where the body was found -- in the bushes alongside La Piedra Road east of School Park Drive -- was searched. Huth told Menifee 24/7 that police said Snyder's phone was pinged near Lyle Marsh Park, just a few blocks from the scene of Tuesday's discovery and near Snyder's home. It is not clear when that phone contact was made.
The case remains under investigation and is being classified as an "unattended death." No other details are available.
