Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Paloma Valley High School:
Marissa Doria has been one of the top runners on the girls cross country team, even though she is just a freshman.
"Marissa is an amazing runner with completely dedication to the program," said her coach, Kimberly Cadenhead. "As a freshman, she quickly became one of our top runners. She has put other interests to the side to put cross country first. Her times continue to drop at each race she does."
Tennis doubles player Brianna Savari "showed hustle all over the court in her doubles match in CIF playoffs round one," said coach David McCoy. "She has come a long way and I look forward to seeing what she can do her senior year. Her court presence and demeanor is commendable."
Since joining the team in midseason as a transfer student, senior Gary Carney has rushed for 397 yards and 5 touchdowns for the football team.
Senior tackle Maleek Baranauskas has 49 total tackles and 7 sacks for the Wildcats defense.
