Senator Mike Morrell, Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez and Congressman Ken Calvert all were re-elected Tuesday.

Republican incumbents in three regional political positions serving Menifee earned re-election Tuesday.

State Senator Mike Morrell was re-elected in the 23rd District, receiving 59.73 percent of the votes to Ronald O'Donnell's 40.27 percent. Ken Calvert received 59.93 percent of the vote in winning re-election to the 42nd Congressional District, defeating Tim Sheridan (40.07 percent).

State Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez easily defeated challenger Jorge Lopez to retain her seat in the 67th District. Melendez received 64.83 percent of the vote to Lopez's 35.17 percent.

"I am truly honored to be elected to once again serve our region in the House of Representatives," Calvert wrote on his Facebook page. "Our country has been on the wrong track for many years and I am ready, willing, and able to advocate for policies that will improve economic opportunities and keep Americans safe. This election was fiercely fought, but now that the voters have spoken, it’s time we all roll up our sleeves and get to work on behalf of the American people."

"I've been given a tremendous honor by being re-elected to the Assembly," Melendez wrote on her Facebook page. "Thank you for trusting me to do good on your behalf, and to work for a better California for you."

In the Romoland School District of Menifee, Manuel Aguirre won the one available seat on the Governing Board with 53.92 percent of the votes, defeating Sandra Ann Tusant (46.08 percent). The three directors voted to open seats on the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District were Steven Simpson (32.46 percent), John Bragg (30.25) and Matthew Duarte (24.33).
