Guests camp outside Krispy Kreme before opening

The big day is almost here, and they're camping out in tents tonight to be the first in line. Menifee's Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop opens Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. in Town Center Marketplace at Newport Road and Haun Road.

Actually, some campers have been out there since Saturday, continuing a tradition at many openings of this popular doughnut chain. Tuesday's Grand Opening and ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m., but the real prizes are given out starting at 5:30.

The first 10 guests through the door will receive one free dozen glazed doughnuts each week for a year, according to the company's Facebook page. The next 50 guests will receive one free dozen glazed doughnuts each month for a year. And the first 100 guests will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

Registration for the prizes for those in line began Monday afternoon. Those folks must remain in line and on the Krispy Kreme property until the shop opens at 5:30 a.m. to claim their prize.
