The Menifee City Council will consider staff's recommendation to approve additional funds for security improvements at the Audie Murphy Ranch Skate Park at its 7 o'clock meeting tonight at City Hall, 29714 Haun Road.
The council will also consider additional funding to accommodate a plan for on-site supervision of the park. These actions are in response to complaints from the public about the safety and security of the park and a recommendation for supervision made by the Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission last month.
In an organized effort by residents of the Audie Murphy Ranch neighborhood surrounding the skate park, 15 people spoke at the Sept. 21 City Council meeting with various complaints, including skaters using marijuana, leaving alcohol bottles and condom wrappers in the area, racing their cars through the streets and partying late at night on adjacent cul-de-sacs.
Tonight's meeting will also be the last city council meeting with Scott Mann serving as mayor. Neil Winter, who defeated Mann in the Nov. 8 election, will be sworn into office at the Dec. 7 meeting.
Menifee 24/7 will broadcast tonight's meeting live on its Facebook page.

Thank you again, Menifee 24/7 for doing this for all of us!
ReplyDeleteThey should not close down the skatepark. They need to think from perspective of a teenager. All they are doing is causing more trouble. If the skatepark closes than the skaters are going to find skate spots around menifee. That will cause a whole bunch of trash because if they do n ot clean it up at the park then they arent going to clean it up in a parking lot or a ditch.
