Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's honorees from Paloma Valley High School:
Chase Ryther filled in at offensive tackle for the football last week and "did an incredible job" in the Wildcats' win over Temescal Canyon last Friday, according to coach Bert Esposito.
Elyse Roe had 10 kills and 10 digs against Heritage last week for the girls volleyball team.
Tennis player Breana Reyes "is a positive force," according to coach David McCoy. "She is part of our number three doubles team. She has come a long way this year. Her increased aggressiveness has not gone unnoticed. I expect her to finish the year strong."
Cross country runner Tye Handal was part of a team that swept the top three sports at a recent Sunbelt League meet. According to coach James Gray, "Tye has also been consistently turning out great, steadily improving times, topped by a career PR of 15:37 at Woodbridge on Sept 17. His consistent performance in the class and on the course, combined with his leadership over the past four years, has become part of the ongoing chain of solid leaders and runners at Paloma Valley."
Shane Robbins continues to lead the boys water polo team in scoring. He was an Athlete of the Month in swimming for the Wildcats last spring.
These athletes will be eligible for the October Athlete of the Month award. Anyone wishing to order a print copy of this article may do so by emailing menifee247info@gmail.com.
