Heritage High School's football team dominated another opponent Friday night in preparing for the game everyone has been waiting for -- next Friday's regular-season finale against crosstown rival Paloma Valley.
Javier Luna rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns and quarterback Devan Freedland passed for 137 yards and a touchdown to lead Heritage to a 47-7 win over Temescal Canyon. The Patriots improved their season record to 9-0 heading into next Friday's home game against Paloma Valley, which also is 9-0.
Heritage took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on a 46-yard touchdown run by Luna and a 12-yard run by Ikaika Tautala. It was 33-0 by halftime after second-quarter scores by Luna (53-yard run), Sherod White (7-yard run) and Luna again (1-yard run).
Heritage's only passing touchdown came in the third quarter on a 2-yard toss from Freedland to Tonga Tavake.
The Patriots wrapped up their scoring in the fourth quarter on a 28-yard run by Brandon Marshall. Temescal Canyon's only touchdown came on a 3-yard run by Sebastian Londono.
White finished with 63 yards rushing for Heritage, which had 349 rushing yards in the game.
