Heritage does it on both offense, defense against Perris

Ikaika Tautala ran for three touchdowns, Javier Luna carried 9 times for 90 yards and a touchdown, and the defense came up with five interceptions Friday night to lead Heritage High School to a 49-6 football victory over Perris High.

Cameron Dawson had two interceptions in the fourth quarter to take away any momentum Perris might have had in what already was a one-sided game. He returned the first interception 100 yards for a touchdown and a 42-6 lead. Sherod White had three interceptions as well.

Heritage, which remained undefeated at 8-0, compiled 303 yards total offense and held Perris to 166. The Patriots also had 70 yards passing, including a 39-yard TD pass from quarterback Devan Freedland to wide receiver Rashoud Shelton. Tautala had touchdown runs of 18 yards and 1 yard in the second quarter and added another score in the third.

Next week, the Patriots play at Temescal Canyon before finishing the regular season with a game against their crosstown rival and another undefeated team, Paloma Valley, on Nov. 4.
