Single-vehicle rollover accident slows traffic on Newport

Traffic on westbound Newport Road was reduced to a crawl Saturday morning as crews cleaned up debris and broken tree branches and prepared to remove a jeep that was crushed during a single-vehicle rollover accident.

According to Sheriffs Deputy Armando Munoz, the accident occurred about 5:40 a.m., with the jeep striking a tree and rolling over. The driver was transported to a hospital. The extent of the injuries was not reported.
