Preparations for a Krikorian Theater complex and bowling alley in Menifee Town Center on Newport Road continue to move forward, although expanded plans by the theater company have resulted in a longer approval process than expected.
In July, an executive with Krikorian Premiere Theaters told Menifee 24/7 that Krikorian had purchased additional property from developer Regent Properties to add 35,000 square feet of retail space to its holdings, thus leading to a delay in submission of updated plans to the City of Menifee. Since then, Krikorian officials have decided to purchase an additional acre to expand the size of the theater, said Gina Gonzalez, economic development manager for the City.
"They are still processing their plans," Gonzalez said in an email to Menifee 24/7.
Todd Cummings, vice president of operations for Krikorian, said in an earlier interview that he wouldn't make a guess on whether they would break ground on the project before the end of the year. Some of the street and utility construction have already taken place, awaiting the start of further development.
Original plans for the Krikorian entertainment complex included 12 theater screens, a bowling alley, sports bar and family entertainment center. Overall plans for Menifee Town Center include retail shops, a park, outdoor amphitheater, civic center, county courthouse and housing units.
I hope they put in a lot more fast food joints and some more cell phone stores. We don't have enough of these yet.
