Menifee youngsters had a blast rolling down the hill on Menifee Road while parents and residents cheered them on Saturday in the fifth annual Menifee Soap Box Derby.
The event, co-sponsored by Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District and the City of Menifee, ran from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the eastbound side of Menifee Road. Racers ran down the hill from Craig Avenue to just before Holland Road. Trophies were awarded in various categories.
Race cars were built by the racers themselves, often with help from parents and friends. This event has become one of most popular annual events in Menifee.
