Story was updated for the second time on July 14 with an updated list of tenants.
The first three businesses to open in the Town Center Marketplace at Newport Road and Haun Road will begin serving customers in the next few days.
El Pollo Loco will be the first to open. Doors will open to the public on Thursday. The restaurant is located right at the entrance to the center off Haun Road, across from Countryside Marketplace.
Two other food establishments will open on Monday. Sonic Drive-in will provide curbside service with its familiar roller skating servers at its site just south of El Pollo Loco. Just to the north of El Pollo Loco, on the right side of the entrance off Haun Road, Buffalo Wild Wings will also open on Monday.
Construction continues on the many other businesses at the center, which include:
PetSmart
Party City
Aldi grocery store
Krispy Kreme doughnuts
The Habit burger grill
Jimmy John's
Sprint
European Wax Center
Niki Nails
SportClips haircuts
Pieology Pizzeria
Yogurtland
Rubio's Mexican Grill
Active Ride Shop
Ono Hawaiian BBQ
Crème de la Crème bakery
Creamistry Ice Cream
China One Restaurant
West Coast Dental The center includes two iconic sculptures designed by local artists whose submissions were selected by Rich Development, the developer of the project.
A sculpture in the plaza on the corner of Newport Road and Haun Road was designed by Steven Rieman. The other sculpture, placed in the back of the plaza near the Aldi market, was designed by Peter Mitten.
"Our city staff and Arts Council Menifee assisted in soliciting and selecting local artist sculptures that highlight the many talented artists we have in Menifee, while also depicting the appreciation of art and culture for residents and visitors to enjoy as a cultural landmark for the city within this beautiful new shopping plaza," said Gina Gonzalez, economic development manager for the City of Menifee.

I am disappointed with the current list of shops. There isn't a high end restaurant or food store at all and Menifee already has too many greasy pick up burger joints. No healthy food places, no Jamba Juice! These are all fast food and low end markets...I won't be buying at Aldi'S after their supplier used horse meat!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Janet. Menifee cannot become a first class destination unless the city works with these developers on the right tenant mix. Why do we have an Aldi instead of Trader Joe's and why are we putting so much into what is essentially a strip mall rather than the beginnings of a solid retail and professional mix that would keep our tax dollars in Menifee.
DeleteTrader Joes is privately held and the formula they use to locate stores is a as secret as the fromula for Coke. Trader Joes will tell you if they want to come to town. Begging them does not help either. It is all about how close to their warehouse, which they try hard to keep the location secret, and how many residents with a X mile radius make a certain amount of money. Menifee has asked and as usual the official response from Trader Joes is maybe. We'll call you.
DeleteCity staff does not care about the big picture of Menifee. They are looking to bring in as much revenue as possible. The bigger the budget, the more staff, the higher the salaries for those at the top.
DeleteTrader Joe's and Aldi are owned by the same family. One Albrecht brother owns Aldi, the family of the other Albrecht brother owns Trader Joes.
DeleteJanet - You know this happened in Europe in 2013 and was not Aldi's fault. Aldi (among other food vendors) had a supplier name Comigel who provided them with horsemeat-tainted products and when Aldi found out they immediately withdrew the products from the market place and resolved the issue. This never took place in the United States. I've actually shopped at an Aldi's and like it a lot.
DeleteI like this answer, we can't judge without knowing the facts, I would love also to have a Trader's Joe store here, but they do their numbers according to population and income before opening a store, anyway Aldi belong to the same company, we hope for the best
DeleteWe were also wondering why a new sit-down restaurant (not sports bar or a restaurant with TVs all over the place) wasn't part of the new shopping area. Very Disappointed.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on with the Menifee Town center next door? I look on the city website every week but the Theater still has not broken ground or any other business. The developer put up all the coming soon signs but I see no signs of any business breaking ground. I hope once they start developing it they put nice restaurants in we do not need another fast food joint! This city really needs to look at the city of Rancho Cucamonga and how they planned out all the Commercial Development. The residents of Menifee are going to other cities like Murrieta and Temecula because are restaurant and retail choices are so limited.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been nice if they were to have included a Italian restaurant (not fast food) and a seafood restaurant.
