Sun City Civic Assn. Schedules Oct. 8 Discovery Day

Expanding on an event that was popular in the Sun City community years ago, the Sun City Civic Association will showcase the many club activities available to residents in its Discovery Day, scheduled for Oct. 8.

The event is designed to make both current residents and those considering a move to Sun City aware of the opportunities the SCCA provides at its facility, located at the corner of Sun City Boulevard and Cherry Hills Boulevard in Menifee.

"Years ago we had Discovery Day, but it turned into just an event for some clubs in one small room," said Loni Knowles, president of the Sun City Coordinating Council. "This year we decided to bring it back and go big. We want to promote all our clubs, and the event is open to the public throughout Menifee and surrounding areas."

Displays and activities will be presented in both the North Town Hall and Webb Hall of the facility. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch served on the patio. Special attractions include a classic car show and the presentation of Quilts of Valor to veterans.

More than 28 clubs will be featured in the event. There will also be a blood drive and a silent auction.

The Discovery Days "Show and Shine" classic car show is free to enter and is open to all pre-1980s cars, all golf carts, motorcycles and special interest cars. For information, contact Bob Harrison at 951-434-1444 or Bob_Harrison8@aol.com.
