Memorial Day Observance 10 AM in Menifee

The City of Menifee invites the public to attend the annual Memorial Day remembrance ceremony Monday at 10 a.m. at the Menifee Veterans Memorial in Wheatfield Park.

The event will include keynote speaker Gerry Thacker, senior vice commander of VFW Post 1956. He will speak about his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Mayor Pro Tem Greg August, also a veteran, will lead the community in a wreath laying. The ceremony will include a flyover by the March Air Force Base Warbirds and the retirement of colors.

"Menifee is proud to honor the men and women who have served our country and protected our freedoms," said City Manager Rob Johnson. "The Memorial Day ceremony has become an annual tradition for the City, where community members can come together to recognize the sacrifice of service members and remember the brave heroes we have lost."

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to stay for a picnic in the park with holiday-related activities and games. The first 100 veterans in attendance will receive free refreshments. Food will also be available for purchase.
