Five Arrested, Booked During DUI Checkpoint in Menifee

Five drivers were arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention center for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint conducted May 21 in Menifee by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The checkpoint was held between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. at the intersection of Scott Road and Breighton Wood Street, just east of Menifee Road. Deputies contacted drivers headed in both directions on Scott Road, with a total of 958 vehicles passing through the checkpoint and 32 vehicles stopped for secondary inspection and evaluation, resulting in the following:

-- 16 drivers were given field sobriety tests.
-- 4 DUI-Alcohol suspects were arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
-- 1 DUI-Drug suspect was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
-- 20 drivers were arrested, cited and released for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked.
-- 15 vehicles were towed.
