An employee of a Menifee coin shop was booked on suspicion of grand theft and embezzlement in connection with the theft of more than $200,000 in silver coins and silver bars, authorities said.
Corrina Elizabeth Conway, 22, of Riverside was booked at Southwest Detention Center on Monday following an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The investigation began Jan. 15 when deputies were alerted to a theft of precious metals at Sun City Coin & Pawn, located in the 28000 block of Bradley Road in the Sun City community of Menifee.
Detectives determined that the suspect had stolen silver coins and bars from a safe inside the store. Further investigation produced evidence that the suspect had allegedly been embezzling from the store over the past year, with losses totally more than $200,000.
Additional evidence showed that on Monday, the suspect entered the store and stole an additional $8,000 in silver, according to a news release. Conway was detained and the stolen silver was recovered. A subsequent search of Conway's residence produced additional evidence.
