Driver Dies When Truck Crashes Along Murrieta Road

A Perris man died when a one-ton Chevy flatbed truck left Murrieta Road and crashed into a tree Thursday afternoon, Fire Department and Sheriff's Department officials said.

Anthony George, 44, died in the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Murrieta Road and Garbani Road, just northwest of Menifee Valley Middle School, about 2:14 p.m. Rescue crews arrived to find the truck resting on its side and the driver trapped inside, unresponsive. The Jaws of Life was used to extricate the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
