Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select athletes based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:
Alison Burnaz is a senior defender and captain of the girls soccer team. Last year she earned all-league first team and all-CIF second team honors. "Alison is super competitive and what I love about her most is how much she cares," said her coach, Marie Dillon. "She has a big heart and it shows when she plays. I love watching her defend because she will do whatever it takes to win the ball. I'm also proud of her because she has worked hard at her academics and currently has a 3.85 GPA."
Brandy Allah of the girls basketball team "is an outstanding athlete and team leader," said her coach, Romeo Galbreath. She averaged 7 steals and 7 points per game in the first week of the season.
Senior wrestler Elijiah Moreno earned first-place honors at the San Clemente Eight-way Team Dual Tournament. He also was a runner-up at the season-opening Carter Invitational. He holds a record of 7-1, losing only a close decision in the finals of the Carter tournament.
