A Menifee man arrested last week in Orange County is accused of breaking into the apartments of female Cal State Fullerton students and stealing various items, including their underwear, authorities said.
Arturo Galvan, 44, tracked down the women and their residences by finding them on social media websites and obtaining the GPS coordinates of their locations embedded in their photos, according to a news release from the Fullerton Police Department.
The Orange County Register reported Monday that Galvan was arrested Thursday night after a three-hour search for him near homes he allegedly broke into in the Fullerton area. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, peeping and prowling and resisting arrest. He was released from Orange County jail Saturday on $200,000 bail.
Lt. Andrew Goodrich said in a Fullerton Police Department news release that items stolen from the college-age female victims included computers, iPads, TVs, jewelry, bras and panties.
"He seems to be fixated on college-aged women,” Goodrich said.
Victims of the crimes arrived at the FPD on Monday to retrieve stolen items. At least 24 victims have been identified, Goodrich said.
Galvan is also believed to be responsible for a rash of burglaries near Chapman University in Orange earlier this year, according to the news release.
