Full Freeway Closure at Newport Bridge Next Two Nights

The City of Menifee has just announced there will be a full freeway closure of lanes at the Newport Road bridge as well as traffic lanes across the bridge Thursday and Friday night to accommodate the removal of bridge false work.

This is part of the Newport-215 Interchange project and is a construction alert that was just given to city officials by the contractor Wednesday afternoon. Southbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday and Friday and northbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Newport Road also will be closed from Antelope Road to Haun Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Freeway traffic will be diverted off the freeway at the off-ramps at Newport Road each way and led back on the freeway via the on-ramps on the other side of the bridge. To avoid delays, motorists may also use detours at McCall Boulevard and Scott Road.
