Police have two suspects in custody for questioning in connection with the shooting of a juvenile at Wheatfield Park early this morning, according to authorities.
Deputy Mike Vasquez told Menifee 24/7 tonight that no other suspects have been identified. "We believe there is no danger to residents related to this," he said.
Police have not released the identity, age or gender of the victim, saying only that it is a juvenile. According to Vasquez, the victim's gunshot wounds are not considered life-threatening.
Police responded at 2:30 a.m. to a report of shots fired in or near the park, located at the corner of Menifee Road and La Piedra Road. An area near the Veterans Memorial on the La Piedra side of the park was roped off for several hours during the investigation, which produced information leading to the two suspects who have been detained, said Vasquez.
