Continuing an annual tradition, members of the Sun City Concern delivered Thanksgiving meals to about 150 shut-ins Thursday.
Sun City Concern is a nonprofit organization that serves seniors in the core community of Menifee. It provides a center in Sun City in which seniors can come and fellowship, play games and receive special services. On holidays, it also provides meals for those who can't get out or cook for themselves.
State Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez visited the center and assisted with the preparation, as she and her family have done for several years. Food for the meals was donated, primarily by Merna's Cafe, located next door to the center. Abe Ibrahim, shown here with Melendez, donated the food for many years as the owner of Boston Billie's. Today he continues the tradition as his daughter Merna takes over the business, now called Merna's Cafe.
