Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:
Daniel Camarillo's time of 15:53 at the Sunbelt League Finals led the boys cross country team to its eighth league championship in the past nine years. Paloma runners took six of the top 10 places in the race. Camarillo's leadership by both word and example has been a mainstay for the team this year, says coach James Gray.
Freshman Lauren Deloss of the girls cross country team finished ninth at the Sunbelt League Finals in her first varsity race, helping the Wildcats earn their seventh consecutive league title.
Quarterback Chance Nolan leads the football team into the first round of the CIF playoffs Friday against Redlands. He has passed for 1,900 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Wildcats, who are 7-3 overall.
These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's November Athletes of the Month. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing menifee247info@gmail.com.
