Several Google Chromebook laptop computers used by students at Ridgemoor Elementary School were reported stolen following the burglary of a classroom at the school, authorities said today.
Riverside County Sheriff's Department officers responded at 6:45 a.m. today after school officials found a broken window in a classroom and reported the laptops missing, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Investigators believe the burglary took place between 8 and 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The laptops are used by students as part of the school curriculum, as they are in several other local schools. Students use the Chromebooks in the classroom but they are not to leave the school. Menifee 24/7 reported on the use of such laptops at Ridgemoor in a 2014 story here.
