Expanded Program Scheduled for Veterans Day Memorial

The City of Menifee will honor the city's and country's heroes during its annual Veterans Day event, scheduled for Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wheatfield Park, 30627 Menifee Road.

This year's program has been expanded. In addition to guest speakers and presentations at the Menifee Veterans Memorial site, winners of an essay contest will be announced. There also will be a chalk walk, followed by picnic-type games.

Elementary and high school students were invited to submit a short essay on the topic "What does Veterans Day mean to you?" Winners will present their essays during the event and at one of the city's upcoming commission meetings.


The chalk walk will line the walkways around the Veterans Memorial with patriotic artwork and thank you messages to our military heroes. Community members are invited to create art and messages using chalk provided during the event.
