The Theater Department at Mt. San Jacinto College will hold auditions Dec. 8 for roles in its spring performance of "The Great Gatsby."
Students at the Menifee campus will present the office stage version of the iconic novel, which features all the glamour, decadence, excess and desire of the 1920s Jazz Age. Four public performances are scheduled April 14-17, 2016.
Auditions will take place in the campus theater, room 207, at 6 p.m. at the college, located at 28237 La Piedra Road in Menifee. Auditions are open to students and the community at large. Award-winning director Carol Damgen is looking for a talented group of actors and is casting a wide net in filling the roles. Anyone of college age and above and actors of any ethnicity are welcomed to audition. High school juniors and seniors who qualify for concurrent enrollment are also invited to audition.
Those wishing to audition should prepare a monologue (two minutes maximum) from a play of the actor's choosing. Monologues should show the actor's range. Actors are expected to bring a picture and resume. They are also encouraged to read the script prior to auditioning.
Rehearsals will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting Jan. 21. For more information, email cdamgen@msjc.edu.
