News release from Mt. San Jacinto College:
Dancers, artists, poets, musicians and hands-on activities will be among the features at the Mt. San Jacinto College Arts Festival on Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors can enjoy and participate in a wide variety of performing and visual arts during the day-long event at the Menifee Valley Campus. Art-related activities for everyone, from children to adults, are planned. Popular food trucks will provide visitors with a wide variety of cuisine. Computers and assistance will be available for visitors who wish to register for classes at MSJC, sign up for financial aid and more.
Festivities begin at noon and the day culminates with an evening jazz event titled "Art: The way it was!" Guests can enjoy a conversation with author Laurie Pepper. Wife of the late jazz musician Art Pepper, Laurie will discuss her memoir "ART: Why I Stuck with a Junkie Jazzman." A jazz performance by Dr. Jeremy Brown, MSJC’s dean of instruction and former chair of the music department, and Marshall Hawkins, a legendary jazz artist who played with jazz greats like Miles Davis, will also be a part of Pepper’s discussion.
The event, supported in part by the MSJC Foundation, will be held noon to 8 p.m. on the Menifee Valley Campus, 28237 La Piedra Rd. in Menifee. For more information, contact the Foundation at 951-487-3171 or 951-719-4761.
