Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. This week we honor athletes from the last two weeks. Here are the Paloma Valley High School honorees:

Shelbie Jacobs helped the girls cross country team win the Mt. Carmel Invitational and Sunny Hills Invitational. Teammate Hannah Doty finished second in a recent Sunbelt League meet in addition to taking second at Mt. Carmel and Sunny Hills.

Sophomore Brenna Mayo won five out of six matches last week and is excelling as the No. 2 singles player for the girls tennis team. Coach David McCoy says, "We are looking for great things out of this youngster in the future; she is a very important part of our youth movement in tennis."

The football team, which is 3-2 this season entering league play, is represented by wide receiver Cameron Whatley and free safety Phillip Mills for their play in a 34-21 win over Temecula Valley Sept. 25.

Tristan Sylva ran a team-best 15:46 over three miles for the seventh best time out of 626 racers at the Sunny Hills Invitational. His team led the Paloma Valley boys, who placed four runners among the top 33 for a fourth-place team finish.

Alex Blackwell, senior captain of the girls volleyball team, is first on the team in blocks and second in kills.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's October Athletes of the Month. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing menifee247info@gmail.com.
