Heritage High School Athletes of the Week: Oct. 16

Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Heritage High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Heritage High School Athletes of the Week:

Boys cross country runner Rigo Sanchez took third place in the junior/senior race at the Perris Rancho Verde Invitational. Samantha Woodward of the girls team took ninth place in the same meet.

Quarterback Brett Virgil ran for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns and passed for 2 touchdowns last week in the football team's 49-14 win over Elsinore.

Also honored were golfer Marissa Camberos and volleyball player Madison Cagle for contributions to their team's success last week.
