Donations Sought for Family of Menifee Resident Chris Ruiz, Who Was Killed in Plane Crash in Afghanistan

A gofundme.com account has been established to raise funds for the family of a Menifee man who was killed in a plane crash in Afghanistan on Friday.

Chris Ruiz and 11 others died when a military transport plane crashed, reportedly due to a malfunction. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Ruiz, a former Marine, was working as a civilian contractor at the time.

Ruiz, a resident of the Heritage Lake community of Menifee, is survived by his wife, Lorelyn, and three children, ages 5, 3 and 1.
