Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:

Alexis Rios of the girls tennis team played some very tough opponents in last week's matches against Murrietta Valley, Temecula Valley and Hemet. "Her doubles team consistently won points for us in two losses," said coach David McCoy. "Alexis shows excellent senior leadership. She is one of our captains. I do not know too many tennis girls diving on the courts, but she comes off the court bloody every match diving after balls. Now that is commitment!"

Faith Galvan is a sophomore outside hitter and returning starter from last year's girls volleyball team. Galvan is the team's leader in kills. She had 12 kills and 22 digs against Rancho Verde. She was named to the Valley View All-Tournament team after the team placed third there.

Sophomore middle linebacker Steve Bradshaw played a key role for the football team against Tustin Sept. 18. He had 12 tackles playing with a severely strained wrist.

Sophia Cadenhead took second place at a league meet to help the girls cross country team win. She also took eighth place at the Mt. Carmel Invitational to help Paloma win the senior girls race.

Daniel Camarillo led the boys cross country team to a team victory at the Sunbelt League opener Sept. 16. His time of 16.06 was good for an individual second and led the way as Paloma captured 5 of the top 10 positions. Four days later the team traveled to San Diego, where Camarillo bettered his previous time by 1:06, finishing the challenging Morley Field course in 16:53.

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's Athletes of the Month. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing menifee247info@gmail.com.
