Special Adoption Fee Offered on 'Clear the Shelters' Day

Three Riverside County animal shelters will participate in the "Clear the Shelters" event, a national adoption promotion scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15.

The event is being coordinated by NBCUniversial television affiliates. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, a special adoption rate of $4.52 will be offered to those adopting pets. This rate symbolizes KNBC Channel 4 and KNBC's Spanish-language channel, KVEA Telemundo Channel 52.

One of the participating shelters is the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, which covers Menifee and surrounding areas. It is located at 581 S. Grand Avenue in San Jacinto. Officials hope to find homes for an increasing population of sheltered animals.

"This is a great event that we're very proud to be a part of and we can't wait to see more of our animals find their way into loving families," said Riverside County Animal Services Director Robert Miller in a news release.
