Speed Limits Reduced in Newport Construction Zone

As construction increases on the Interstate 215/Newport Road interchange, Caltrans has partnered with the CHP and Menifee Police Department to reduce and enforce speed limits in the area.

Until further notice, the speed limit on Interstate 215 between McCall Boulevard and Scott Road is now 55 mph. The speed limit on Newport Road from Antelope Road to Haun Road is now 35 mph. Enforcement of these speed limits will begin immediately, according to a news release from the City of Menifee.

In addition, City officials remind residents there are "No U-Turn" signs at the intersection of Newport Road and Antelope Road, a busy intersection prone to traffic accidents and a place where vehicles often are stuck in the intersection between lights.

Motorists are advised to leave themselves extra time through the area and to avoid distractions such as cell phone use.
