Interstate 215 Closures Continue for Newport Road Project; Newport Median Removal Begins Aug. 24

Intermittent freeway lane closures and ramp closures during night-time hours will continue next week on Interstate 215 between Scott Road and McCall Boulevard, accommodating work on the Newport Road interchange project.

Caltrans and the City of Menifee announced today that intermittent lane and ramp closures on the southbound side of the freeway will take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. the week of Aug. 3-7. Closures on the northbound side will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the same nights.

Looking ahead, crews will work on the bridge falsework Aug. 24-26 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. During that time, freeway traffic will be re-routed around the construction using the Newport Road on- and off-ramps.

Median removal on Newport Road across the bridge is scheduled to begin Aug. 24 and continue for two to three weeks. During that time, Newport Road will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during the day and one lane each direction at night.

The entire project is expected to be completed by fall 2016.
