The public is invited to the Charter Night celebrating a new Lions Club in Menifee.
Heritage Lake Lions Club Charter Night will take place at 6 p.m. on July 25 at Merna's Cafe, 26850 Cherry Hills Blvd. The club, which meets the first and third Monday of the month at Merna's, will use Charter Night as a fundraiser for its activities.
Lions Club International is a civic-minded organization whose motto is "We Serve." Projects the Heritage Lake Lions Club has already undertaken include:
-- Toys and blankets are being collected for the Sheriff's Department to keep in patrol car trunks as an emergency care package when an incident arises involving children.
-- Toys, books, clothing, toiletries and common household items are being collected for a local battered women's shelter.
-- Assistance has been provided in collaboration with the Riverside Transit Agency Dial-a-Ride program.
-- Pull tabs from beverage cans are being collected to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda.
-- Eyeglasses are being collected to benefit those in need of prescription eyewear through vision and eye exams at no cost to the recipient through the California Friends in Sight program.
Tickets for Charter Night are still available. For information, email Lion Peggy at LionNightengale@gmail.com.
