An updated and more diversified complex was shown to the public tonight when the City of Menifee held a grand re-opening for the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center.
The Ceniceros Center, which passed from county control to the city a year ago, has received upgrades in the form of audio-visual equipment, restrooms compliant with the American Disabilities Act, an improved stage area and outdoor landscaping. Also noteworthy are improvements to the west annex, which now houses the city's Community Services Department, and the north annex, which is now home to Arts Council Menifee.
Community Services Director Robert Lennox introduced his expanded staff of 11, which now supervises all parks and recreation activities previously handled by Riverside County and later Valley-Wide Recreation and Parks District. Staff members will work in a remodeled building that formerly housed County Supervisor Jeff Stone's headquarters. The facility includes a board meeting room and a large community room.
On the other side of the main building, Arts Council Menifee now has space to display paintings and other works of art, hold outdoor receptions in a spacious courtyard (above) and make use of office space.
Following a short program, guests were invited to tour the facility.
