Registered voters living within District 3 in Menifee will be eligible to pick up nomination papers to run for the vacant City Council seat in that district beginning July 13.
Those interested in running for that position must first make an appointment with the city clerk for a one-hour appointment regarding the paperwork. Potential candidates will then have until Aug. 7 to return completed nomination papers and a candidate statement.
City Council members voted to have a special election Nov. 3 to fill the council vacancy created when Wallace Edgerton died on May 26. The new council member would serve the remaining year of Edgerton's term.
Each council member is elected to represent one of the four voting districts in Menifee. District 3 includes an area roughly bordered by Haun Road to the west, Briggs Road to the east, Newport Road to the north and Scott Road to the south.
