215 Freeway, Newport Road Closures Announced

All lanes of Interstate 215 under the Newport Road bridge will be closed as well as all lanes on the bridge itself as crews begin demolishing a portion of the bridge during nighttime shifts Monday through Wednesday.

The freeway closure will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. According to a city news release, freeway traffic will be diverted to the freeway on- and off-ramps as a way to get around the bridge construction. Traffic on Newport Road will be diverted south to Scott Road via Haun Road and Antelope Road for freeway crossing.

Motorists can also expect intermittent north and southbound freeway lane closures between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday.

The Interstate 215/Newport Road interchange project will accomodate three lanes of through traffic in each direction on Newport Road over the bridge. A partial cloverleaf configuration will be used for on-ramps.
