The suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in Homeland has entered a not guilty plea to all counts and will be back in court on May 29, according to the Riverside County District Attorney's office.
Felipe Avalos Gonzalez, 43, is in custody in lieu of $2 million bail. He faces charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run death in connection with an incident that occurred April 29.
Jennifer Campbell, 36 and a mother of two, died from injuries suffered when she was run over by a vehicle allegedly driven by Gonzalez. Campbell and a companion were walking along Sultanas Road north of Highway 74 when the vehicle veered into the two and ran over Campbell.
Gonzalez turned himself in to authorities at the San Ysidro border station on May 8. He will next appear in court for a felony settlement conference.
