Riverside County Sheriff's deputies arrested 12 offenders in a DUI arrest warrant sweep in Menifee on Saturday, authorities said today.
Officers conducted the operation in search of high-risk DUI offenders who either failed to show up for a court date or violated terms of their probation in an outstanding DUI case. They attempted to serve 32 warrants and arrested 12 individuals.
Prior to this warrant sweep, over 600 letters were sent out to subjects with outstanding arrest warrants. Of those, 120 subjects responded to the Perris Sheriff's Station and were cited and released with a new court date.
"The best bet for anyone with a missed DUI court date is to go to court on their own now, or come to the Perris Station and we will issue you a new court appearance date," said Sergeant Strang. "If you don't, that warrant isn't going away. We're going to come find you and take you to jail. The Perris Sheriff's Station Traffic Unit will be conducting additional warrant sweeps this summer in both the cities of Menifee and Perris."
Those caught often face additional jail time for failing to appear in court or for violating probation, according to a news release.
