Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:
The Wildcats tennis program is represented by two athletes this week: the doubles team of River Recatto and Matt Jordan. They recently became the No. 1 doubles team by having the most number of doubles wins on the team.
"We were in an incrediblly tight battle with Lakeside last Thursday and winning or losing the match came down to River and Matt in the last round," said their coach, Reagan Williams. "River dominated the ball at the net and Matt, hit his serves and forehands straight and true. River and Matt won the game 6-4 and Paloma won the match, 10-8. Intense tennis!"
David Hamilton was honored as a representative of the boys volleyball team, which is 19-1 this season and undefeated in league play. Hamilton led the team in kills with 31 last week as the Wildcats swept two more league matches.
"David has played a major role in the team's success thus far," said his coach, Katie Bradley. "David is also one of our captains and is a great leader on the court."
These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced the first week in May. Anyone wishing to order a glossy print of this article with photo may do so by emailing menifee247info@gmail.com.
