Menifee Resident Creates Holiday Item: Ghoul on a Stool

Menifee resident Juan Hernandez and San Diego resident Dave Agnew have spent more than half of their adult lives underwater ... aboard a submarine, that is! Together, they have more than 44 years of service in the United States Navy. They have missed a lot of time and holidays with their family and friends while serving for our country, as many in the military do.

"Being in the military, we know how important it is to spend time during the holiday seasons, so that is why we created the Ghoul on a Stool™," explains Agnew.

In 2013, they came up with an idea that turned into a dream which is now becoming a reality!


The Ghoul on a Stool™ is designed to become a new Halloween Family Tradition. It was developed by Hernandez and Agnew to create special family memories with a positive message. The Ghoul character is a fun, mischievous, candy-making ghoul that encourages kids to be kind and to do a good deed every day.

"We not only want to teach your kids to be good, but also to do good, and share their kindness with others," says Hernandez. In return, the Ghoul rewards kids with a great Halloween experience.

The Ghoul on a Stool™ comes packaged in a colorful keepsake box that enfolds the book, written by Hernandez's wife, Charity, and the adorable 7-inch Ghoul plush doll. The children’s book is 20 pages and is beautifully illustrated.

The positive message is one that all families can appreciate. Hernandez and Agnew also have a dream to be on the ABC hit TV show, "Shark Tank!" After developing the concept, writing the children’s book and finding the right manufacturer for their products, they are ready to bring The Ghoul on a Stool™ to life!

They recently launched a Kickstarter online fundraising campaign to help get their dream out of the clouds and into your homes. You can pledge and be one of the first ones to have a Ghoul on a Stool™ of your very own, which will be available in Fall 2015!
