Heritage High School Athletes of the Week: April 17

Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Heritage High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Heritage High School Athletes of the Week:

Softball player Alina Ponce de Leon is leading her team in batting average at .468. As a pitcher, she is 3-1.

J'men Aldrete, a previous Athlete of the Week nominee, continues to excel for the boys golf team.

James Phillips of the boys track team had strong peformances at a recent invitational. He placed sixth in the 100 meters and third in the 200. He ran a personal best last week of 22.88 in the 200.

Cecilia Cabrera of the girls track team won the 800 meters and 1,600 meters in a dual meet against Perris.
