School spirit is running high on campus these days as the Paloma Valley High School girls soccer team prepares to face Temescal Canyon High in the CIF Division 6 championship game Saturday night.
Students, faculty and staff joined cheerleaders and members of the school band in celebrating the success of the team during a pep rally on campus this morning. Tickets are on sale today and rooter buses are scheduled to take fans to Saturday's game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Corona High School.
This will be the third meeting of the season between the Sunbelt League rivals. Their first meeting Jan. 22 at Temescal ended in a scoreless tie. Then in the regular-season finale on Feb. 10 at Paloma Valley, the Wildcats scored a 2-1 victory to break a tie for first place and hand Paloma the league title over the Titans.
Since then, Paloma Valley (14-7-4) has advanced through the playoffs with victories over Katella (5-0), La Sierra (2-0), Bloomington (1-0) and Maranatha (1-0).
Temescal Canyon (20-4-2) advanced to the finals with wins over Santa Rosa Academy (8-0), Whittier Christian (3-0), Summit (1-0) and Sierra Vista (2-1).
