DUI Suspect Arrested After Freeway Chase from Menifee

A vehicle chase that began in Menifee early today ended near the Highway 76 exit of Interstate 15 southeast of Fallbrook with the arrest of a DUI suspect, authorities said.

Erick Gonzalez, 21, of Perris was taken into custody after he crashed a 1995 Honda Civic at the Highway 76 exit of I-15 and fled on foot. He was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, driving under the influence, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and an outstanding parolee at large warrant.

The incident began at 12:46 a.m. when a Menifee Police officer observed the vehicle swerving while traveling eastbound on Scott Road. The suspect failed to stop and fled south on I-15.
