Parents of students at Mesa View Elementary School and neighborhood residents in Menifee are making donations to the family of a school crossing guard whose son died March 10.
Donations are being accepted through tonight on a gofundme account to assist the family of Erendira (Eddy) Perez, who has continued her work as a crossing guard during her time of mourning. At least one parent posted on Facebook the offer to fill in for Eddy Perez on the school crosswalk, but that parent said Perez said she wanted to remain on the job at least for today.
The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18 at Evans Brown Mortuary. Exact time has not been announced. The son of Eddy Perez and Victor Perez suffered from unspecified disabilities. (Photo courtesy of Evans Brown Mortuary obituary page).
Residents say they are raising money for the family both to help with funeral expenses and to allow Eddy Perez to take time off work. To donate or for more information, visit the gofundme account here. More than $1,000 had been raised by noon today.
