A birthday celebration for Arts Council Menifee held on Sunday, March 1 was a festive affair that showed just how far ACM has come in its five years of existence.
What began as a small group of art lovers has grown into an organization that sponsors such noteworthy community events as "Menifee's Got Talent", Menifee Arts Showcase and Menifee Mystery Dinner theater drama. Named Menifee's Non-Profit of the Year last summer, ACM has expanded to include several divisions: Dance, literary arts, music, theater arts and visual arts. All provide opportunities for local residents to showcase their talents.
Sunday's event was a showcase for the visual arts division. Several artists displayed paintings of various forms, photographs and other visual elements. Guests were allowed to vote on their favorite artwork displayed on the walls of Kay Ceniceros Center, with the winner being Soon K. Chung (above) for her watercolor painting "Green Cat" (below).
Artwork by ACM members and supporters is displayed on the walls of Kay Ceniceros Center throughout each month and is replaced with new artwork on a regular basis. The center is also used for events such as Sunday's.
