Wrestler Adam Andrade and soccer player Christina Rodriguez are the Menifee 24/7 Athletes of the Month representing Paloma Valley High School.
Andrade won the Sunbelt League championship at 132 pounds and placed third in the CIF finals. He then advanced to the Masters Meet, where he placed 10th -- just missing out on a chance to go to the state tournament.
Andrade said he plans to attend UCLA or UC Riverside and major in biochemistry with plans of studying to become a plastic surgeon.
"Wrestling is over for me," he said. "I'm done cutting weight and I'm eating so good now."
Rodriguez has not allowed a goal in four playoff games as the senior goalkeeper for the girls soccer team. She is one of the main reasons the Wildcats are playing in the CIF finals Saturday night against Temescal Canyon at Corona High School.
"Christina has been on varsity since her sophomore year," said Marie Dillon, her coach. "Christina plays the most important position on the team. We take pride on having a great defense and Christina plays a huge role. She is very competitive and is such a great leader for this team. The team has so much confidence in her.
"What I admire most about Christina is that even though she gets a lot of recognition/awards, she has always stayed humble and hungry."
Rodriguez will play soccer for Cal State San Bernardino next season.
Each athlete received a certificate and gift card from Texas Roadhouse.
